Climbing Mt. Shasta is a compilation
of information compiled from many sources, and though the author has
taken reasonable steps to provide you with up-to-date information
for your enjoyment of an activity for which you may or not be
skilled at, you have to remember that climbing is a sport that
requires strenuous activity and can involve life threatening risks.
Your safety depends on your own good judgment, based on experience
and a realistic assessment of your ability as well as weather and
route conditions.
Mountaineering can be a rewarding
experience but if you have any doubt as to your ability to safely
climb, then you should obtain information from a guide book and/or
take a basic mountaineering course from a qualified climbing
instructor. Also, "Climbing Mt. Shasta" is the only written resource
you'll need to help you prepare for a 14,162 ft. ascent on the
second highest volcano in the lower 48 states. Enjoy the reading and
climb high!!!
Also, we recommend to call the Wilderness Ranger's
Recorded Climbing Advisory (530) 926-9613 or the Fifth Season
Store's Recorded Climbing Report at 530-926-5555 for current
conditions. Also call the Mt. Shasta Ranger District at (530)
926-4511 for a live person. Good luck, Climb High and enjoy your
expedition and adventure!
